RE: What's with the Emergency blankets?

I wonder how long it will take the manufacturers to figure that they need to add this into the design!! :) Sincerely, Matt

RE: porta potty questions

I have a Thetford cassette toilet without the electric flush. It's really great, especially at night and when it is raining outside. I always dump it at the dump station that way I can rinse it out with the water hose. It has a spout that turns out when you are dumping along with a pressure relief button that you push so it does not splash out while you are emptying it. I use the Thetford holding tank chemical that you buy at Wal-Mart. It is really easy to keep up with and works for about 2 days with our family of 4 before it needs to be emptied. Sincerely, Matt

RE: Running Fridge on battery

We own a 2007 Coachmen Clipper 1070 ST. We ALWAYS run it on electric while travelling. I begin 2 days before by cooling the frig using propane. By the next day the frig is very cool so I load the food into it. And Day 3 we switch it to electric and depart. The electrical system has ALWAYS kept the frig and its contents cool during travel - absolutely NO NEED to run it on propane, and NO NEED to add ice. Same here: I precool the fridge for several days and then while we are traveling it runs off of the battery that is charged by the TV. It always works fine. Sincerely, Matt

RE: TOWING QUESTION

But there is a lot of 'play' in the hitch. It wobbles and fishtails a bit. What causes this and how can we correct it? Thanks Robert Holt Sitka Alaska Robert, Are you talking about the drawbar that goes into the hitch on the vehicle that is moving excessively? There should be a little play, even with the pin inserted. Check to see if the holes of both the drawbar and hitch are "wallowed" out and causing it to move excessively even with the pin inserted. If they look questionable, I would replace them. Sincerely, Matt

RE: I got my 2008 Westlake today!

You'll be happy that you are keeping it in the garage!! We have garaged ours since we bought it over 3 years ago and it is still in great condition. One thing I do is keep ours on jack stands. It keeps the load off of the tires. Have fun!!1 Sincerely, Matt

RE: E load tires on a 1500.. asked an "EXPERT"

So, if I understand it correctly, there are special valve stems for trailer wheels and higher load rated tires. I know that there are metal ones, but I did not know that there was a difference in the rubber ones. I ask because I had my trailer ones replaced (load D) at a local tire shop last year. They were cracked and I know the place does not sell anything related to trailers. Sincerely, Matt

RE: We Just Got Our First Pop Up Ever!!

Here in Texas, we have already been out for a week right before Easter. We did go through some pretty awesome storms in the pup with some torrential rains (my door mat was floating in 4 inches of water), amazing lightning, thunder and winds!!!! We have done that in the past, but not as bad as it was this time. The winds the night before were the strongest we have ever been through, with gusts that had to have been in the 40mph or more range. Other than that, the weather was great. I was in shorts and got sunburned!!

RE: E4 is home in the yard! pics to follow

That would DEFINITELY not fit in my garage!! Wow, that is nice. It is amazing what has come out in the world of pop-ups in the past few years.

RE: We Just Got Our First Pop Up Ever!!

Ahhhh, just do it!!! You'll learn along the way!!! My wife and I are always forgetting things, so we always look for the nearest Wal-Mart. :) Before you know it, you'll be like the rest of us toting half of our worldly possessions with us to make the trip that much more enjoyable. You will soon learn the joys of people watching and checking out what the "Joneses" have just hauled in to their campsite. Have fun!!!!

RE: Prodigy Brake Controller

I just recently purchased a new Prodigy controller for $109 (a month ago). I have a 2000 Silverado. I also purchased the harness ($12) which allows you to plug the controller directly into the truck without any splicing. I added electric brakes to my pop-up camper, which it did not have, so I needed the controller. I went with the Prodigy after reading MANY articles about how superior they are. I have to say that I am happy that I got it and not a cheaper controller. I was told there was not much difference in the P3 vs. the Prodigy. One main difference is the LCD screen on the P3 which definitely looks cool. The Prodigy was very simple to setup for me. Once I got it set, it worked flawlessly. I don't tow all of the time, so I went with the cheaper one. I think either way you go, you will be very happy with your purchase!!!

RE: Towing with my F150 First timer!!!

All I know is that my 1500 Silverado with the 5.3, though a great motor, does feel taxed even with our Viking pop-up when we get to a decent grade. On level ground I have to watch it because I end up going well over 70 miles an hour. But, again, when I hit a decent grade, I can feel that trailer behind me, though I am able to keep the speed up without loosing MPH. I do know that with something as large as a 30ft trailer that weighs around 8000lbs, I would definitely be wanting more. So, I told my wife, who keeps talking about a bigger trailer that I would need a nice, new, big shiny truck with a diesel!!! She almost threw a shoe at me!! Sincerely, Matt

RE: How many have lowered the roof while stabs down?

Ok, so who here has accidentely forgot to pullout the safety supports and started to lower the roof? :) I was in a hurry and forgot to pull one of them out, and low and behold!! I thought something looked funny as the top was tilting to one side. Fortunately, I did not do any damage. I have also had the two-piece door come completely off!!! Whew! Sincerely, Matt

RE: Dexter Docs...

Be very careful. I had EZ-Lube on my previous TT. Though I'm no mechanical wiz I thought I could follow their instructions if I was careful. I was wrong. By the time I found out the grease had come out the back I needed new brakes. I just installed electric brakes on my popup. It did not originally come with them and the dealer gave me the runaround on getting some installed, so I did it myself. When pulling the hubs off, I noticed that there was an excessive amount of grease on the inside of the wheel rim. So, I had probably been putting in too much grease into the bearings. I think that I will repack them periodically as it is not a really hard thing to do. I believe it will be safer that way. Sincerely, Matt
